Deleting your account
Bunyad for Android (com.bunyad.expense) and bunyadapp.com
You can delete your Bunyad account yourself, without asking anyone. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
From inside the app
- Open Bunyad and tap your initials in the top right to reach Account.
- Scroll to Delete account.
- Type
deleteto confirm, and tap the button.
You are signed out at once, and the account is gone before the screen changes.
By email
If you cannot reach the app, write to bunyadservice@gmail.com from the email address on the account and ask for it to be deleted. We will confirm and carry it out within 30 days, usually much sooner.
What gets deleted
- Your account record — your name, your email address and your password hash.
- Every project you own, and with it every stage, expense heading, expense entry and photograph on that project. Photographs are removed from the database outright, not merely hidden.
- Your seat on any project that somebody else shared with you. Their project is unaffected.
One thing is kept, deliberately. If you added an expense or a photograph to a project that somebody else owns, that entry stays where it is. It forms part of that person's accounts, and removing it would tear a hole in a book that is not yours to change. Your name is unstamped from it: it reads as "Deleted user" from then on, and no longer points at your account.
If you want those entries gone as well, ask the owner of that project to delete them before you close your account.
How long anything survives
Deletion is immediate — the records are removed from the live database as the request is processed, not queued. Routine encrypted backups of the server may retain a copy for up to 30 days before they roll over, after which no copy remains.
Before you go
If you share projects with other people and you are the owner, deleting your account takes those projects away from them too. If the book should outlive your account, hand the project over or export what you need first.
